Program Summary:
The U.S.-China Policy Foundation (USCPF) would like
to invite you to join our 2010 Policymakers Trip to China Program for
a bipartisan group of congressional chiefs of staff, which will take
place from August 8-17 during the summer congressional recess.
The August 2010 trip will highlight China's efforts
to develop and utilize alternative energy sources and will feature visits
to several prominent sites illustrating China's progress in this effort,
including touring the Three Gorges Dam-the world's largest hydroelectric
power station-and Qinshan Nuclear Power Station in Zhejiang province
(about 100 miles from Shanghai). Participants will also visit cultural
and historic sites in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as the 2010 Shanghai
Expo.
The U.S.-China relationship is among the most significant
bilateral relationships in the world. Through their positions, congressional
staff members have the unique opportunity to inform our nation's legislators
as they shape America's China-policy. The Policymakers Program presents
an opportunity for them to enhance their understanding of the ever-changing
Sino-American relationship. Through the trip to China, participants
will obtain the knowledge necessary to make informed policy recommendations
about the most recent developments in China and Sino-American bilateral
relations.
The USCPF will work in close concert with the Embassy
of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese People's Institute
of Foreign Affairs to organize and execute the 2010 Policymakers Educational
China Trip Program, which is approved by the U.S. Department of State
under Section 108A of the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act
of 1961 (MECEA). For more information, please see 22
U.S.C. §2451 et seq.
The USCPF is a nonprofit organization that fosters
better understanding between the United States and China through education
and exchange. It is a nonpartisan, non-advocacy, tax-exempt 501(c)(3)
institution.
How to Participate:
Congressional chiefs of staff interested in participating
in the program should contact the USCPF by April 16, 2010
to convey their interest and provide a brief narrative biography.
If you have any additional questions, please do not
