U.S.-China Policy Foundation Hosts a Roundtable Luncheon and Discussion
Commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the Shanghai Communiqué

Ambassador J. Stapleton Roy addresses the

On February 27, 2007, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation hosted
a roundtable luncheon and discussion to commemorate the 35th anniversary
of the signing of the Shanghai Communiqué. Speakers included USCPF
board members Ambassadors Chas W. Freeman, Jr., Stapleton Roy and Richard
Solomon and Pulitzer-prize winning author Stanley Karnow, who was the
bureau chief of The Washington Post at the time of the signing. Minister
Zheng Zeguang, the Charge de Affairs at the Embassy of the People’s
Republic of China, opened the luncheon with brief remarks highlighting
the importance of the Communiqué in the history of U.S.-China relations.
