Washington, DC non-profit organization dedicated to U.S.-China relations
seeks a part-time program assistant to begin in December/January.
Background: The United States-China Policy Foundation (USCPF) is a
non-profit, non-partisan, educational organization dedicated exclusively
to broadening awareness of China and U.S.-China relations in the Washington,
DC policy community.
Job Description:
-Conduct independent research and writing on issues in U.S.-China relations
to produce articles for USCPF publications, including the biannual newsletter,
Washington Journal of Modern China, and the USCPF Web site. The program
assistant assists with editing and formatting publications and works
with the editor to make changes. Additional writing will include frequent
composition of formal letters and emailed correspondence.
-Perform general office work: produce and mail correspondence, answer
phones, update USCPF Web site, and maintain office supplies.
-Conduct research on possible grants and other funding opportunities
for the USCPF’s programs, events, and publications.
-Organize and execute USCPF Foundation lectures and events. Duties include
publicity for the event, catering arrangements, billing, correspondence
with speakers, and logistical preparations for the event.
-Liaise with congressional staff, leading China scholars and Chinese
officials to organize and execute an annual seminar series and trip
to China.
Qualifications:
-Excellent writing skills are essential. Position requires frequent
use of writing and editing skills for a variety of projects, including
research publications, letter writing, and other miscellaneous duties.
-General: Detail oriented; travel experience in Asia and China. Two
years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support
work. (Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant
by the USCPF.)
-Computer: Extensive knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of html, Dreamweaver
8, Publisher and Adobe InDesign a plus
-Education: B.A. in International Relations, Asian Studies, or other
significant education related to China; candidates currently pursuing
a post-graduate degree (MA or PhD) are encouraged to apply
